Oh. My. This took SO LONG to be finished!!! I started it in Mid-February. The cute little Baby it was destined for, was supposed to be born around March 20, but decided it would be great to show up one month early. In other words, the baby will get the blanket when she’s already 3 months old – and hopefully not too big for the 60cm-large blanket.
The border was made in crochet instead of knitting, and I sew some soft, plushy fabric on the other side. I still suck at sewing and have yet to learn how to use my sewing machine, but my grandma told me you can’t sow on crochet… is it true? In any case, I’m not so happy about the sewing, but I’m glad to be done with the blanket. I hope little Manon and her family will like it and not think it’s full of mistakes.
About the pattern:
It’s a beautiful pattern. However, since each square is made with another stich style, even if there is the same number of mashes, they don’t end up having the same size, which is greatly annoying once you have to crochet them together. If you consider this pattern, try stitches that take about the same amount of space on your piece of work. On the positive side, it is a convenient pattern if you travel a lot, since knitting each square takes no space in your bag.
Facts:
- I used wool, machine washable at 30°C
- the blanket is 60cm wide
- Pattern: Patchwork Decke by Maschenkunst (free on Ravelry)
And now for the fun facts… My next-door neighbour is pregnant and is expecting for July… and I will make a new baby blanket again! Looks like knitting my first pullover will have to wait… ![]()
